Abstract Class Name: Base Level of Detail Data
Subclasses
Definition
The rules and data that govern the replacement of objects based upon a
predefined function. The function is typically based upon the distance
from the object to the viewer.
Primary Page in DRM Diagram:
Example
- A set of polygonal data is produced with low detail for viewing at
ranges greater than 3200 meters. The
Level of Detail Data specifies this
viewing range so that the correct set of Polygons
can be selected for the appropriate viewing range.
- Three Models of a building are created,
each with different
Polygon counts. The most accurate
representation has Level of Detail
Data identifying it as useful to a range of one kilometer;
the next Model has
Level of
Detail Data that indicates utility from 1 km to 2 km, etc.
